“You Take!”

With about 3 ½ hours of sleep – my tired butt rolled outta bed and crawled to the shower…Why?  Well Krista’s intelligent self had a caffeinated beverage at 9pm last night – and it kept me wired till around 11pm (I just couldn’t resist – I went to the grocery store last night and got a few Pepsi’s – hadn’t had one in sooooo long and the urge to buy some overcame me….and when I got home they were screaming at me from inside the fridge – “drink me Krista.”  But that isn’t the only reason I got a scant amount of sleep last night…..My landlords DOG kept me up forever and woke me up the rest of the night in 30 minute intervals…For the last two nights that animal has been barking and barking and barking till the wee hours of the morning (i.e. when I get up and get ready for practice)…He’s been doing it since my landlords left for vacation and I’ve got another seven days of freedom from them – but fear this loud ass dog is going to be the death of me.  He has been starting around 9:30pm and just doesn’t stop….

After my bucket bath though I felt much more awake and was ready for practice – so I ever so carefully climbed down the steps towards the gate – having done that without any spills – I was on my way…

As I approached the shala I saw my friend and fellow yogi Jake – we finished our brief walk together and had a nice little chat.  He told me he and Pam were gonna be leaving in Mid-November, which made me sad…I told him I was leaving around mid-December…Told him I needed to get back to my ‘life’ sometime!  He said, “This is your life!”  And it really hit me then and there that he is so right…Wow, I have to say I am living a pretty amazing life right now!!!

So practice was really really good today – I got nice and centered before I began my first sun salutation and all is blurry from then on!  I got so warm so quickly – I felt like I was literally on fire…It was simply amazing…And it only took two tries to get jump into Bakasana today – oh that pose!?!$*!&!  But Sharath helped me with Supta Vajrasana this morning and I felt really deep (although I have to admit before he came over to me I was struggling a bit to get into lotus – it’s the devilish cardio!)  Eka Pada wasn’t all bad either – my right side’s still my nemesis as always – but coming along nonetheless.  And Dwi Pada – well lets just say that will take a good deal of time for me – the getting the legs behind the head (no problem) – the balancing on my tailbone (problem)…It sure is a good thing I got nothing but time to work on this practice – cause that pose requires a lot of it – as will every single pose that follows it…After that I went into backbends and right when I started my first one I noticed Sharath standing over me waiting…I really kinda feel rushed when he does that b/c I don’t want him to wait long for me but I really like to get in at least a couple drop backs on my own before he assists me….Oh well…After I came to stand I did two quick drop backs alone and then allowed him to assist me.  And I was a wee bit nervous b/c my back has been bothering me for a few days and because I started ladies holiday Sunday afternoon, which only adds to my back pain…But, Sharath didn’t know and took me deep anyway – which was a good thing b/c once I got my hands around my ankles (with his help of course) and once he pulled my hands up to my knees – I was able to take a few deep breaths and it really felt great!!!  Finishing sequence was quite nice today as well – and my Shavasana was heavenly.

After I got my things and left the locker room I walked into the shala and started smiling from ear to ear – Guruji was standing at the office door – and he was just glowing….With a huge smile on my face I walked over to him to give him my respects and afterwards he gave me the best hug I’ve ever gotten from him – it will forever remain in my memory bank…And right after he gave me a hug he said to me “You take!  One more chocolate, you take!”  There was a tin on his desk – he opened it and then said, “Oh, two more!”  I started laughing as he handed me a sweet from his personal stash!  Food was the absolute last thing I wanted at that moment, but it was from Guruji – so I ate it happily and then made my way home!

wow! so sweet! Say hi to Pam and Jake, I can’t believe I was in Mysore in June, seems like so far away! Opening a new shala soon in Norwich, so you will have to come and do a workshop here next year! I plan to go back to Mysore next year hopefully. Great to read your stuff and know you are well. Much love Abbyxxx
