Breakfast at the Metropole
What a nice, relaxing day off! I must say I am quite happy to have been able to rest from practice today! This last week seemed intense to say the least…I woke up on my own at 6am and showered up and did some chores till about 7:45am when I headed out the door to meet a friend for breakfast. We were supposed to me at 8am but she ran a little late so I took advantage of the time and consumed two tasty coconuts at the coconut stand while I waited. When she arrived she took me on her scooter to Metropole for their breakfast buffet. While I must say it is extremely overpriced and they simply don’t have THAT much that I personally like to eat for breakfast – it really is worth it every once in a while for a change of scenery and a different environment. It’s so funny too b/c when Kwang was here it seems we only went to Metropole or other restaurants that were grossly overpriced comparatively to the rest of Mysore. Now that he’s gone I am really enjoying venturing out more and trying more ‘Indian local’ spots. I’ve found that I totally love ‘Orange Restaurant’ and ‘Kings Court’ – two often visited spots for locals – and Kwang and I never tried them once. Not only are they less than half the price of ‘Metropole’ or ‘Southern Star’ or ‘Green Hotel’ – but I think the food is Much Better.
Ok, to get back on subject, breakfast was really rather enjoyable…I haven’t eaten out for breakfast since before Kwang left in September and it’s been way too long since I just hung out with a fellow yogi – usually if I’ve spent any time outside of practice with other yogi’s its to help them with some web thing, help with pictures for this or that thing, or some other favors…(which I don’t mind at all)…But today was simply kicking back, eating, and talking about all kinds of things (primarily about yogi life – but not in the philosophical sense – thank goodness – just too much of that recently)…
After a most delightful breakfast I came back home and did my usual – emails, paperwork, research, fiddling with a few programs, messing with product pictures, working on the site….Finally, 3pm rolled around so I got my things and headed to the gym – actually really looked forward to getting away for a little while – desperately needed a break from work…I spent a good two hours in the gym – my usual 45 minutes of cardio and over an hour working on strength and stretch stuff (all to benefit my practice – but now and for the next few months it sure does seem to hinder it! Always that way isn’t it?) I had such a good cardio workout today – felt so nice…You know how it is – some days you just don’t feel it, or you don’t have much energy, or you would love to be anywhere else than where you are – well today was nothing like that – I felt great and had good energy and really challenged myself…I did intervals on the eclipse machine and kept pushing myself to do higher intervals for longer durations….Yummy stuff I tell ya…But I was pooped when I finished. And another thing – the little gym I go to – “Silver’s Planet Fitness” on the main road – well it only has three pieces of cardio (bike, treadmill, and eclipse machine), which is three more than the other gym nearby —–but the treadmill and bike are on the fritz right now so all that is available is the eclipse and that makes things that much more difficult when you have six or more people who want to do some cardio……Hope that gets fixed very soon. And I must tell you that I am really growing to love that little gym. There are two guys that work there everyday who are both very nice, and the usual group that comes in when I do consists of about six to seven Indian guys of varying ages. There is one older lady who will also come about two days per week. Over the last month we have all become very friendly to each other and it’s so nice to see the same smiling faces everyday when I come to workout – I feel a little guilty though b/c they all know my name but I don’t know most of theirs…It has to do somewhat with the fact that 1) I am HORRIBLE with names, 2) some of them have never told me their names – we never were properly introduced so I still wonder how they know my name, and 3) I don’t want to totally butcher the pronunciation of the few names I have been given….Oh well – I still enjoy the gym and the people their no matter…
When I left the gym I had a very nice stroll home – the time of day was perfect for walking and there was a nice breeze in the air…When I did get home I showered, ate, did some work, and then it was off to bed!
