Centered Yoga

The two week workshop with professor Rao here at Centered Yoga is coming to a close soon!  I can’t believe it is already Wednesday of the second week…I am really enjoying the classes on the Sutras and the Gita…Both texts are quite a mystery to me, even though I have read them both twice – they are scriptures that will never truly be understood – they will always remain somewhat of an enigma to me!

Aside from the time we spend with professor Rao (who is a precious little Indian Sanskrit scholar from Mysore), I am also totally loving the pranayama and asana portion of this retreat – and I can’t leave out the food, or the beach!  So yeah, I am totally in heaven right now in every respect…The asana part of my practices is really intense!  When I was in Mysore the last pose Sharath gave me was Supta Vajrasana – and that is where Paul had me stop all last week – he and Neil really worked hard to help me “get” that pose down – now I can pretty much hold my toes while going back and I REALLY didn’t think that would happen for a LONG TIME.  Once I was able to do that, Paul gave me Bakasana (Sunday morning)!  I worked and worked and worked to jump into the pose…Finally after about ten try’s I got it – but I also got a really nasty bruise in the process.  Yesterday (Tuesday) Paul added Bharadvajasana and Ardha Matsyendrasana, which felt really good to do after Bakasana.  Today I assisted again during regular mysore class so I practiced with Paul, Harmony, and Neil at 5:30am (which also meant no more new poses for Krista L  No worries, I am uber happy to have these three new poses and I do have a feeling I will likely get a new one tomorrow.  It wouldn’t matter either way but it is really nice getting more personal attention here at Centered Yoga after being at the Shala for three months.  I grew SO much in Mysore and I continue to grow here!  I don’t know how, but Neil, Harmony, and Paul have been working with me on my dropbacks and now have me grabbing my knees from a backbend – this is a good three to four inches further than I was before I arrived here 1 ½ weeks ago!  Point is – you gotta come study with this group – they are really amazing people, talented teachers, dedicated practioners, inspirational devotees to the entire practice of yoga, and just down right cool people.  I look forward to the last week and a half I have here and will for sure be making another trip to Koh Samui in the near future.

Om Shanti
Krista
