Guruji’s Talk

Today was quite an amusing conference indeed!

Before conference even began I poked my head into the office to speak to Sharath about the possibility of coming back in mid to late September.  “Sharath, if I come back in mid-late September, will that be considered a second visit?”  Sharath said if I were to come back in early September I wouldn’t have to pay the registration fee again, since I’ve been here three months.  So I said so that will be a second visit if it’s a little past the beginning of September.  He looked at me for a moment, then said, “You come like 20 of September” – I told him that would be around the time I would come back if I could make it happen.  He spoke to Guruji for a moment and then told me that would be fine – If I come back between the beginning and end of September I don’t have to pay the registration fee again this year!  Yeah!!!  Now, I just gotta figure out if I am gonna come back – need to speak to Kwang.  I have enough money to make it happen, but should I spend the time and money to come back to India for another month after Thailand considering the fact that I’m relocating when I return to the states??  My head says no, but my heart says yes – well see who wins!

Now, when conference first began Sharath made a comment that students are getting braver with their questions – I couldn’t help but think that maybe he was referring to my questions, but even if he was I’m sure that there are plenty of people with similar questions!  As for Guruji’s talk, it was really difficult to hear him today – could have something to do with the fact that Kwang and I were pretty far back in the room away from the stage – but you gotta get to the Shala at least thirty to forty five minutes before it begins in order to get a good seat!  I heard some of the questions that were asked today (ranging from questions about the Gita to questions about whether pain during practice is good, to Ken asking why his body naturally did Nauli when he took rest after practice).  I am no one to judge anything anyone wants to ask, but I found most of the questions to be – well – odd…The conference was quite comical though – most people and Sharath and Guruji thought many of the questions were pretty darn funny.  Good laughs.  After the question and answer portion of conference was over, we were treated with some songs by two little Indian girls.  It was really beautiful to listen to traditional Indian music live!!  Not something that usually occurs during conference, but a special treat today!

While the girls were getting ready to sing, I snuck into the ‘products’ room to purchase a couple of t-shirts.  I’ve been here three months now and didn’t yet acquire an AYRI t-shirt, so I wanted to be sure to grab one or two before I left (especially if I don’t come back in September).  So I got myself two AYRI tees!  Score!

Once the singing was over, and people began to disperse, I went up to Guruji and asked if I might get a picture with him.  He said, “Yes, yes!”  So I got my picture with Guruji and happily left the Shala feeling quite satisfied with the last hour of my day.
