Hum…
I am currently sitting in front of my baby – my gorgeous computer! It is currently 10:30pm on Saturday night and we recently got home from Ventronics, where we picked up my computer with her brand new 80GB hard drive. Interestingly enough, I just found out that my computer was made in China and the corrupted hard drive was made in Thailand by Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Thailand), Ltd., assembly made in Malaysia…Hum…Hum…Hum…That’s about all I can say about Dell not being able to help me here in India b/c this particular computer was ONLY launched in America and I COULD ONLY GET PARTS IN AMERICA…Dunno…Just dunno…Quite stumped considering all that, plus the fact that my computer is now up and running with a brand new hard drive – having been fixed in India and all! Oh well, I can say I am certainly looking forward to sending a VERY NICE email to Marcet Rhynes of the Dell Care Resolution Center.
So, needless to say, I am totally stocked to have my computer back…Only one small problem with it – the touchpad mouse doesn’t work. It is no fault of Ventronics though, they could only go on the driver’s that were available for download online – they downloaded the touchpad mouse driver but it’s not working. If we did have the actual disk’s of the drivers it likely would not be a problem, but that is something they just didn’t have, nor did I b/c I didn’t anticipate anything like this before I left the US. No worries though b/c it is something that will easily be fixed when I return to the US – I just got a mini optical mouse and I am up and running. They were kind enough to install Windows XP on my computer for me at Ventronics and when I return on Monday (they are closed tomorrow) they will install Microsoft office for me. It was originally gonna be done yesterday evening but the hard drive didn’t arrive till this afternoon. No worries – I told them I’ve waited a month, I could definitely wait another day.
Tomorrow, we will call Shiva to send his tech guy over to the house to reinstall the internet software on my computer so I can connect to the net at home again via my computer. I can’t tell you how excited I am to have my baby back and working again. It has been almost a whole month without her – and I gotta say ALL the trouble I had with dell and ALL my travels to Bangalore – they just don’t really matter anymore.
So I ended up spending a total of 7590 rupees for a new 80GB hard drive and an optical mouse (that was 400 of the total). My previous hard drive was only 40GB – and if you look online, Dell charges double for the 80GB hard drive than what I was charged. So, I ended up coming out on top of Something!!! That sure was a nice surprise and made things a little more well worth it too.
Ok, enough about my computer….

This Saturday off was quite nice and very productive. First off, I woke up and went to my acupuncture session, which was by far the most beneficial session thus far. Andrea worked on my back today so she could do some work with my shoulder as well as on my tummy and back. All the points she worked via my back were connected to my large intestine – so that proved to be beneficial for my back and tummy. She also used a small electrical current (don’t know what the thing is called but I have had something similar done before in a chiropractor’s office) on a spot on my left shoulder and the most amazing things seemed to happen all over my body. She put it at a very small frequency so it wasn’t painful or anything – but it really made the point’s work more effectively…i.e. the acupuncture points help get my chi moving, and the electorical current made that chi move more quickly – it sure felt amazing in my body.
After my acupuncture session Kwang, Rosie, Peter and I went to breakfast at the Southern Star. Can’t say the breakfast was anything special but we all got to say goodbye to Abby, a fellow yogini who is leaving today. After breakfast Kwang and I came home for about an hour. We both spent that time doing a little pleasure reading – really enjoying my book “How Yoga Works.” Around 12:30 we got a rickshaw out to the Spa that I have really wanted to check out for some time now. It is called Wind Flower, and it is a little ways out of town, near Chamundi Hill. Anyway, I gotta say this place was far more amazing than I expected…Totally beautiful place in a secluded area of town. The rooms are out of this world – I literally walked in fell in love – first thing I said to Kwang was that this is exactly how our bedroom will look like one day when we have our own bedroom in our own house. We both decided we are gonna stay here at least one night before we leave India – and honestly it’s not very expensive at all (actually it would be uber cheap if this place were anywhere in America) – it’s 4200 rupees per night for a double occupancy in the deluxe suite, which is where we would stay. They have one a little cheaper and two more expensive style rooms…The deluxe was truly perfect. They also have a beautiful pool, an amazing spa with tons of treatments, an amazing restaurant, breathtaking views, your own balcony, the works. Each room has a bar, a large TV and DVD player, and an indoor shower as well as an outdoor shower (can’t describe it but you gotta see it – well when we stay and I take a ton of pictures you will really understand what I’m talking about – but I can tell ya as soon as I saw that outdoor shower I wanted to just get naked and take a shower outside! ;0 It was truly breathtaking in every respect; I do hope to have the money to stay a couple days…But we definitely will be staying at least one – I mean I gotta get pictures of my future bedroom man!
When we left Wind Flower, we headed to town to the Levi’s store so I could get a warm pair of Jeans – I gotta tell ya the monsoon season really has cooled India down exponentially! I am not only cold at night now, but also during the day – I bought a nice jacket the other day, but the rest of my body is real chilly too – so I luckily found a nice pair of warm jeans that will keep my bum warm too!!!
From there Kwang and I headed over to the Metropole to grub down, as we were offly hungry. Unfortunately they really didn’t have much that I liked, but I was able to fill up on bread and corn – it actually was pretty tasty and hit the spot.
When we got home I really wanted to take a walk, but Kwang didn’t want to. Somehow that started a bit of an argument…Don’t ask me how. But I headed out for a walk and he ended up following me. We walked about five minutes into town and stumbled upon a different gym, Silver’s Planet Fitness. It’s a tad bit closer that the other Tuff Look gym we worked out at a few times in May, but I liked it sooooo much more. It doesn’t have as much equipment in terms of weights, but what they do have is newer – plus the facility itself is far far far cleaner, more colorful – and the best part – they have cardio equipment!!!!!!!! You have no idea that is all I have wanted…Granted, the one treadmill, one bike, and one pseudo elliptical machine they do have are on the older side, they are still totally functional. I was stoked…Yes I was…And I was sold!!! It is 350 rupees for one month membership, which equates to about $7.80. We didn’t sign up at that moment, but we told them we would come back. From there Kwang went home and I headed out to begin my walk. I got about ten minutes down the road and it began to rain – I actually quite enjoyed walking in the rain, I got really wet, but it wasn’t real hard rain or anything. And besides, there was nothing I could do about it…So I choose to enjoy it! I walked, and walked, and walked…After about thirty minutes I got a bit lost, but one truly interesting thing about Gokulam is that no matter how lost I get here I always find my way home. And sure enough, another thirty minutes later I came walking up the steps to our house.
I was a little dirty and a little tired so I laid down for thirty minutes, then got up and had a nice shower. From there Kwang and I headed over the Planet Fitness to workout (I just couldn’t hold off till tomorrow – I haven’t been on a piece of cardio equipment in TWO MONTHS – I mean common – I was a fitness coordinator in my previous life in Orlando). Anyway, we got there and paid our 350 rupees, and then I got my happy ass on the wanna be elliptical machine for thirty minutes. I can’t even begin to tell you how nice it felt – truly blissful – although it was hard as balls – my cardio stamina has dwindled to nothing in the last two months – but I am looking forward to getting it back to something respectable in the next month. Sweaty, I stepped off the machine and spent the next twenty minutes doing a little Pilates…And I had a bit of an enlightened moment. I have been have a hellofa time with my knees since I’ve been here b/c my hips have really tightened up…Couldn’t figure out, for the life of me, why! But I dawned on me as I was doing some Pilates leg exercises that my body has really missed these simple exercises – as they really keep my hips open. So, that was ’so good to know’! Feeling quite tired, albeit totally refreshed, Kwang and I headed out of the gym. We walked right across the street to our trusty little laundry place and picked up our clothes. Then we headed home. I was gonna take another shower straightaway, but as soon as I got my naked body under the showerhead and turned the water on, a small drizzle came out that immediately fizzled to nothing. So I had to get out of the shower (Kwang kindly went downstairs to turn the pump on) and wait fifteen minutes for the water to come back on – all I can say is, “That’s India for you!” In the meantime I had dinner – a tasty bowl of corn flakes!!! Yum!!!
After my shower we got on the scooter and tutted over to Ventronics to get my computer.
It has been a great day all around and I am really looking forward to getting my happy computer totally functional again on Monday with Microsoft office and get the Internet hooked up. In the meantime I am totally content writing on this notepad (one of the trusty accessories on the computer).
Good night all!
Krista
