Ganesh and Anu are Amazing!
I just got to Anu’s after taking a wonderful walk around town. I went solo today b/c Kwang opted to sleep in on his day off of practice. Understandable, but I can’t sleep in!!! I’ve been up since about 5:30am this morning. So I got up, did some laundry, showered, and headed out for a walk. I got to see other parts of Gokulam that I haven’t seen before, and it was quite nice to walk around somewhere different. I do have to say it was a less delightful area to see, but different nonetheless.
Don’t have too much planned for the day. We have Sanskrit class at 3:30pm this afternoon, and we may go to the movies later this evening. Other than that I hope to get some reading done and just try to enjoy the day.
Yesterday was quite a day. Kwang and I headed to Bangalore by taxi at 9am – we arrived around 12:30pm and spent the day running errands. We opted for a car with AC this time around and I have to say it was SO nice. We were able to stay cool without getting bombarded by pollution! It was kinda gross to see all the smog and filth outside around us – but luckily we didn’t have to experience it for ourselves. Anyway, our first stop in Bangalore was to Steller information systems to get my computer checked out. The people there were really friendly but told me it would cost around 20,000 rupees to recovery the data from my computer. I had to leave my computer with them so they could do a diagnostic on the hard drive to see how much data can be recovered – they are supposed to call me this afternoon to let me know that as well as exactly how much it will cost and how long it should take to do. If they can save over 60% or my data then I am going to go ahead and do it – otherwise I am gonna give up on that and just get a new drive…I honestly had no idea it would cost that much to recover my data – but then again i just had no idea in general!
From there we went to Western Union so Kwang could get money his father wired to him; then off to the airport to pay for our tickets to Thailand; and finally to Fridays to eat (something we had not done all day long). After stuffing ourselves there we got back into the car and headed home.
We got home around 7:30pm last night – I was uber tired and not feeling so well – the food we ate was yummy but it didn’t sit well in my tummy at all
I laid down and read for a while before passing out.

It’s almost 6:30pm now and I gotta say I’ve had a rather interesting day! Ok, so first off I have learned a ton today about a ton (that’s specific right?) Well, once I left Anu’s this morning I went back to the house and Kwang had just gotten up. He really wanted to go to the Green Hotel to eat some breakfast, so we headed over there for grub, which I must say isn’t my favorite spot for breakfast. I got some porridge and two boiled eggs and Kwang and I shared some of there yummy mint tea.
From there we came home, and had planned to go to the pool to get some sun; but my tummy would not stop hurting and there was simply no way in the world I could have gone to the pool. I had already told myself I would go see a doctor on Monday about my tummy, but I had to do it today b/c I was in some much pain, the cramping was unbearable. Ever since I took the Castor Oil earlier in the week my tummy has been feeling really bad. Not only that but the Aloe pills I usually take to help me with digestion, among other things, has not been working at all since the Castor Oil experience. So, that just sucks…
I headed over to Anu’s to see who she recommended I go see, as I trust her and Ganesh more than anyone really in Mysore….She called up her doctor, who was actually done for the day. He didn’t answer but she thought he may be in around 1pm (it was a little after 12 at this point). She gave me some hot water and seemed really worried about me. I sat there in a lot of pain, not wanting to move or do anything but find some relief. She then called Ganesh, who was out around town – then she told me he was on his way home but would stop by the doctors and see if he would see me. Ganesh arrived about five minutes later, and not only got their doctor to agree to see me during non office hours, but also drove me there himself, waited on me, drove me to the pharmacy, and then drove me home! All I can say is that these people are truly wonderful!!! They will try to help you no matter what you need, and if they can’t help you they will do all they can to help you find the people who can help you. When you come to Mysore, be sure to check out Anu’s internet cafe and Anu’s Bamboo hut!

So, after the doctors I went home and took the stuff he gave me, which made me feel better almostly instantly. But I must say the doctor, and Anu told I should not have taken castor oil. The doctor told me it is banned in America and that they don’t even really use it here in India anymore – I thought “great”…Although I know Kumar meant only good when he told me to take the stuff. Anyway, I did a little research on the net and found out that Castor Oil is considered a Chemical Laxative anyway, so not good stuff…So, after reading my earlier blog, if you got a little curious….Please don’t think about it. Learn from me, it was really uncomfortable experience, and come to find out it was not such a good idea afterall.

On another note, around 4pm Kwang and I decided we needed to get out of the house – and we have been searching for Neti pots forever – so we headed to a place we were told sold them. When we got there the place was closed – but I didn’t want to go home, so we decided to head to the market in town to walk around. We got there and walked in parts of the market we had not been before…Quite nice to see different areas, although I must say they all really look the same. We did stumble upon a health place that ‘volia’ sold neti pots….”What a score man” been looking forever and we just walk right into a place that sells them. Then we walked a little longer and a little boy came up to us who was painted in the face, wore very colorful clothing and had a tail hanging from his clothes. I must say he was quite the scene. Of course he wanted rupees, and Kwang didn’t want to give him any (usually I don’t either b/c you really get bombarded constantly here by children and beggars alike) – but I thought if there was anyone I would give money to it would be this kid b/c he really did go to a lot of trouble to make himself up like that. I told Kwang “he is Well worth 15 rupees” – and that’s exactly what I gave him!!!
From there we got on the scooter and just started driving. We ended up near Chamundi Hill and I told Kwang to head in a direction we’d NEVER ventured to before. We ended up riding that way for like an hour, and it was so nice – much of what we saw was just land – no houses, no people, no pollution – just beautiful India. After a bit Kwang wanted to head back in the direction from which we came – so we sort of did – I made him take a right down a road that ended up taking us into a new town….It was quite nice to ride through though…And when we were at a stop in the town of Mohala (sp?) our scooter went kaput! It totally died and wouldn’t turn back on. Luckily a nice man walked to scooter up the street a tiny way to this other nice Indian man who spent ten minutes working on it and ‘volia’ (my word of the day) he fixed it up right away. It was uber cool being in that little town, not at all like Mysore, just had a different feel to it. And everyone was so nice and helpful to us – gave me a good feeling!

Just got home and came over here to check my email, etc. etc. etc. and to thank Ganesh and Anu for their help earlier. Ganesh did tell me I have a package at the post office but I can’t pick it up till after 10am on Monday as they are closed today. I know that’s the package my mama sent to me, which was supposed to arrive like Tuesday – but I’m glad it has finally come, unlike the package Kwang’s parents sent to him over a month ago.
Soon I’ll head home and drink a bunch of hot water, take a nice hot shower (hopefully the water will be working), and do a little reading before I hit the sack. Got led practice tomorrow morning at 5am bright and early. I plan to take a walk afterwards, which will likely be alone again b/c USA and Italy are playing tonight at like 12:30am (Kwang is gonna stay up and watch it – and he says he’s going to practice tomorrow morning – even if he does he will come straight home and pass out for the duration of the day – and then stay up late tomorrow night b/c Korea plays someone…) Anyway, tomorrow should be a very nice day, as I look forward to practice and my walk…..And no other plans except for my massage at 6pm with Kumar. I am uber excited!
I wish you all a wonderful rest of your day….I do hope you find my blog amusing at the very least…Maybe even informative or helpful….
Om Shanti,
Krista
