Guruji’s Talk
What a tasty practice today…It felt so good and my mind was pretty focused this morning. I practiced next to Rosie for the first time today, which was really quite nice.
Kwang and I took a walk around gokulam today – haven’t done that in over a week now since we found Chamundi…It was really nice too – I actually missed the daily walks around town.
Spent most of today transfering my blog to this one (unfortunately I couldn’t just upload/import that blog here – although WordPress does have that feature – it doesn’t for the program I was previously using….No worries though – it is well worth it to spend the time now and get everything here). I am far from done though – got all text transfered and about half the photos – should take a couple more hours tomorrow and I’ll be all set.
Spent a little time today studying Sanskrit to prepare for the exam we had this evening in class. I think I did pretty well – know I missed one of about 20 questions. He gave us some consonants in Sanskrit and we had to give the english; some english and we had to give Sanskrit; some Sanskrit words and we had to translate; some English words and we had to give Sanskrit.
Before class Rosie and I went to the Shala and listened to Guruji’s talk. Really good today – Guruji seemed full of energy and he had a lot to say – got some great notes. Talked a lot about doing the practice; anyone can except the lazy person. Talked much about sitting properly – how important it is – how it will allow for correct breathing and will help keep away disease. Talked about the importance of breathe – one by one, one by one…Be present always in the moment and you will live longer. Said much about women today too. Women are not to do Nauli! Women are to take oil baths on Fridays and Tuesdays only. Women “must take babies” – for ladies, “marriage is important” – Said “women should take ten babies plus one (10 babies and one husband = 11 babies). Sharath then explained that people in India used to think you should have a minimum of 10 children bc they were like assets (property in a way); they would stay together and take care of the parents as they aged – although he admitted that times are changing in India. Guruji ended the talk by explaining “Don’t waste your body – don’t waste your mind” – “Do Yoga and think God”
Been a long and productive day – time for bed.
Om Shanti
