Chamundi Hill

Such a beautiful view, fresh air, and tons of stairs!  Chamundi Hill is an absolute must see during your visit to Mysore, India.

As it is Linda’s Last day in India we definitely wanted to make sure we squeezed this in before she left.  Kwang, Linda and I left the house this morning around 6:30am so we could make it to the bottom of the hill no later than 8am.  Once we got there we started our 1,000-step trek to the top.  I must admit I got quite winded a couple times – some of the steps are much steeper than others.  It was such a beautiful view all the way up (we would stop every few hundred steps and look around – so much vegetation, and fresh flowers were everywhere).  Once we reached the top Girish, our rickshaw driver and friend, took Linda and me inside the temple to give our puja (offerings of coconut and flowers) to the God Chamundi) – it was really a wonderful cultural experience for me and just an interesting experience altogether.  When we finished inside the temple we all walked around for a bit- got hassled by vendors, and saw the museum at the top of the hill, which I enjoyed very much.  From there we made our trek back down to the bottom (I tripped but did not fall only once during the entire walk – which is quite rare for me – I tend to be pretty clumsy when it comes to walking, running, hiking, doing anything really and I expected to trip at least a good three or four times, but only once!).  One of my favorite parts about the entire trip was getting to see so many MONKEYS.  Man I just love monkeys – and the ones hanging around Chamundi were soooo cute!

As we were all STARVING, we made our way to the Green Hotel for some breakfast.  I got banana pancakes and three egg whites – so yummy.  Linda got the sampler platter that came with fruit, cereal, omelet, toast with butter and jam and juice and coffee; Kwang got an omelet, fruit, and an interesting tasting India dish (can’t remember the name – was not such a fan of the flavor).  Stuffed, a little pooped, and pretty sweaty – we headed home!

The rest of the day was pretty productive.  Came home and showered, worked on website, photos, blog, writing, etc.  Around 5pm Kwang and I dropped off our laundry, and went to the gym for about an hour.  When we came home we hung out with Linda till she had to leave at 8:30pm.  I was pooped – so I headed off to bed around 9:30pm
