The Bird Sanctuary
Good evening all,
I must say today was busy, busy, busy….Practice this morning was awesome! When I first got to the shala I didn’t know how in the world I would make it through the series b/c I felt SO tight and tired. However, after the first thirty minutes my body said ‘HELLO’ and really opened up and got nice and warm. The rest of practice was out of this world – quite tasty…I was so out of it when I left the shala, it took me a good twenty minutes to get my bearings.
Kwang and I didn’t take our usual morning walk today b/c he was really tired after practice so he took a good two hour nap! I made a cup of JOE and got started with my day (handwashed my clothes, did the dishes, cleaned the house, and Copyrighted my website!) I also spent a great deal of time checking and responding to emails! My current big project is learning a new program for my blog. I will soon be switching my blog account and will be transfering all these files to my new blog (but I have to learn the program first, which will take a couple days to do). I am gonna switch b/c 1) this new blog will be conected to my website account so it will make my life easier and 2) b/c this current blog was created by a friend of mine and I have no control of anything, no idea how to access anything other than to post or edit my posts (and there is soooo much more to blogs if you know the programs)…Anyway, I will keep you all updated and give you all necessary information once I teach myself this new program and get it up and running.
At 12pm today Linda, Claudia, Kwang and I headed out to the Bird Sanctuary! It took about thirty minutes to get there and well worth the drive – such a nice time. We took a guided boat tour of the lake there and were able to see a ton of birds up close and personal. There were also a lot of bats sleeping up in the trees..It was really neat. And, the tour guide let me, Claudia, and Linda take turns paddling the boat – what fun (it sort of reminded me of Crew my freshman year in college – without the use of my feet and thighs of course). Once we finished the boat tour we continued to walk around the sanctuary and that is when I had the most fun! There were a bunch of little monkey’s hanging out – I had a blast getting pictures of them (they were soooo cute)..In the next couple days I will upload pictures of this trip as well as our trip to the Mysore Palace on Sunday.

We got back home about 4:30pm and then Kwang and I headed off to the shala for our new classes. On Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursday from 5-6pm we are taking a Sanskrit reading and writing course, and from 6:00-6:45pm we are doing a Sanskrit chanting course. Today was the first day and boy was it wonderful! It was so nice to be back in a classroom setting again (altough I can’t say the room we used was a classroom….) Anyway, it was quite nice, the first class we learned 15 vowels, and 10 consonants - a little intimidating I must say as we need to have them mastered by Thursday ;-
***I must say that our teacher is truly amazing – his energy is high and he has a lot of insight. Before he let us go for the day he reminded us to do everything with positive thoughts- positive energy. He explained that no matter what, if we do things in a positive mindset, everything will be of benefit – but if we do things with a negative mindset – nothing, even if it is good, will be of benefit. Really hit home for me as I try each and everyday to be in the moment, enjoy every minute, and savor every second. So from here on out – I will incorporate the positivity of things as well – not just being grateful but also being positive. Everyone will find benefit in doing the same!
After class I was STARVING – so Kwang and I scootered over to the Green Hotel to eat dinner. Never eaten here before but heard good things – and i was quite happy with our meal. I got a real piece of grilled chicken for dinner with some steamed veggies (yum), and I also had their cream of chicken soup, which was out of this world tasty. Kwang and I shared a pot of cinnamon tea (OMG your tastebuds will sing praises over this tea).
We are supposed to go there for dinner tomorrow night too b/c a lot of the yogis here now will be leaving in the next couple days. It seems the typical stay is one month – so during the three months Kwang and I will be here – we will see quite a few faces come and go.
Well, I am off to bed – been a long but prosperous day! I wish you all a wonderful Tuesday!
Om Shanti,
Krista :icon_lol:
